Youth Programs


After School Program


The after school program is for children in 3rd and 4th grade from Big Flats Elementary School to participate in different sessions throughout the school year.  The sessions are one day a week for four to six weeks from 2:30 - 4:00pm.  The program sessions include a time for homework, a healthy snack,  and an activity such as gardening, STEM lab, cooking, board games, and chess.

Summer T.A.F.F.Y. 

Summer T.A.F.F.Y. (Town Activities For Flats Youth) began in 1956.  An outdoor park program for children at least five years of age. The program is for 4-6 weeks,
Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 3:00 pm,  and meets in our local town of Big Flats parks.  The children are supervised by trained counselors.  Activities include: outdoor games, arts & crafts, weekly field trips, and visits from traveling programs.

Teen Commission

Teen Commission is for high school students in grades 9-12th.  Monthly meetings are self governed by the teens, with supervision, to plan and implement events for peers and other age groups.  The teens also participate in community service opportunities.  The monthly meetings are held once a month at the Community Center. Teen Night Out

Teen Night Out is a summer program for children 12 years and up.  Various events include a 'Cookout' at the Big Flats Community Center, trips to Harris Hill Amusement park, the movies, etc.   The dates and times of the activities vary.  Permission slips may be picked up at the Big Flats Community Center Office, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00pm. 

Winter T.A.F.F.Y.

Winter T.A.F.F.Y.  also known as “Bingo”.  Students in grades Kindergarten-4th meet at the Community Center on various Friday nights from 5:00 - 7:00pm.  The program runs September - April.  The children have  pizza , play bingo and other games while being supervised by our counselors.  The admission fee is a canned food to benefit the Big Flats Food Pantry.

Youth Organization

Youth Organization is for students in grades 5-8th.
